One of the most famous thriller TV series ‘Stranger Things’ is getting their own mobile game developed. Next Games have partnered up with Netflix for a mobile game that is said to have a similar experience as Pokémon Go.
The game will be simply known as ‘Stranger Things’ and is said to be a location-based puzzle RPG. Players of this game will be able to walk around the upside-down world and “work with fellow fans to fight back its emerging evils,” according to a press release.
Next Games is said to be using Google Maps integration to the game so that you can explore your neighborhood with your friends or family members (who should also have the game installed to make it more fun). Teemu Huuhtanen the CEO of Next Games said the following in a press release, “Our core focus will be to deliver on Stranger Things’ rich and intense themes like friendship and supernatural adventure, and translate these into snack-sized entertainment on your mobile device,”
Besides the developers of Pokémon Go, Niantic, Next Games is one of the most leading developers when it comes to licensed location-based games. The company has also developed ‘The Walking Dead: Our World‘ which is another game that uses Google Maps to create location-based gameplay objects.
The Stranger Things game that is being developed by this company is totally separate from the two previous Stranger Things game that was in development by Telltale Games.
Next Games’ version of the Stranger Things game will be available in 2020 for both iOS and Android devices whereas the next season of this TV series (Season 4) will be on Netflix on July 4th.
