WhatsApp is an application…wait should I even explain what’s WhatsApp? No right? Cause we use it literally 24/7, yeah? Few months back, the company gave us the flexibility to format the texts that we send via the app. And I personally felt that not everyone is enlightened on how to use these formatting options (like you literally can “strikethrough your message”, ” embolden your message” or “italicize your message”) so I thought of writing this article to help everyone to use these options in their day to day messages.
Anyway, for those who are still living in the 20th century, WhatsApp is a mobile application that is free (data charges may apply) and offers simple, secure, reliable messaging and calling, available on phones all over the world.
So, here’s how you can format your texts on WhatsApp:
To italicize your message, just place an underscore on both sides of the text, like so:
Or if you want to bold your message, you will have to place an asterisk on both sides of the text, like so:
Or to strikethrough your message, you just have to place a tilde on both sides of the text, like so:
Or to monospace your message, you have to place three backticks on both sides of the text, like so:
Or alternatively you can try:
- On Android, you can tap and hold the text you’re typing > More > and choose among “bold”, “italic”, “strikethrough” and “monospace”.
- On iPhone, you can tap and hold the text you’re typing > BIU > and choose among “bold”, “italic” and “strikethrough”.
Yes, simple as that. Don’t forget to react to this article via the react button right below and don’t forget to share this article with your friends’ and family so that they can use it the next time they want to emphasize on a word or sentence by using BOLD or Monospace font.
