Over the past few years, Facebook has been experimenting new features for the app alone and also for messenger. Today we can add another feature to the list, this feature let’s us to upload images in high-resolution, up to 4K (yes you read it right).
Until this update was introduced, the company made the app to support image uploads in 2K. Below are some examples images from Facebook pointing out the difference in the sharpness and clarity when zoomed-in when it comes to 4K image upload (maximum resolution as per now is 4096 x 4096 pixels). The one on the left is how the quality of the image would be if it was sent via the app before this new update — in 2K — and on the right is how the image quality will be once it’s sent through the app after the new update — in 4K —. In order to use this feature you will have to make sure that your messenger application is updated to the latest version.
Facebook say that this update for Messenger is currently available in the following countries:
- Hong Kong
- South Korea
The company also stated that they will be expanding this feature to other countries as well in the upcoming weeks.
